RE: The tariff classification of N-Phenylmaleimide, CAS # 941-69-5, imported in bulk form, from China
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated June 7, 2005 you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, N-Phenylmalemide, is an aromatic imide indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
The applicable subheading for N-Phenylmalemide will be 2925.19.4200, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Imides and their derivatives; salts thereof: Other: Aromatic: Other….. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
